Smoothy Editing Sony FDR-AX1 4K XAVC S MP4 video in iMovie

Announced back in September, the FDR-AX1 is Sony's first "consumer" 4K video camcorder that is targeted towards indie shooters. To capture 3840 x 2160 resolution, the AX1 uses Sony's new XAVC-S format which employs a more efficient MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 Long GOP compression with an MP4 wrapper.

How to Convert and Import Sony FDR-AX1 XAVC S videos to iMovie

Step 1: Locate the original Sony FDR-AX1 XAVC S file

Download and run Sony XAVC S Video Converter on Mac, and then click the "Add" button to import the XAVC S videos to the program. (Drag and Drop is also a convenient way to load the videos.)
