With my GH2 I had no problem on my Windows 7. When I got my Panasonic GH3, I record in AVCHD (as with the GH2). I put my SD card in the PC, copy to my picture map and all stills are copied, except movie files. I don't see them... I can play the movie on the camera without a problem. Any idea?
Panasonic Lumix DMC GH3 as Panasonic’s first mirrorless Camera Panasonic is a hot product now with its multiple recoding formats MOV, MP4 and AVCHD, which are high in many videographers’ favor. While, when got the GH3, some users were facing the similar trouble like the above user met- the PC doesn't import AVCHD files from GH3.
Copying AVCHD files to a PC is often problematic. Use your video editing software to import the files, or if you don’t have any specialist video editing software use the Photofun Studio software that comes with the camera to import the files direct from the SD card. Also if you were shooting AVCHD at 50 or 60 frames per second it is highly possible the software you are using will not read this high frame rate file. Only a limited amount of software for now will play these files.
There’re two solutions here. First solution we suggest you to check the settings in the record quality section of the menu and selects 24/25 or 30 fps, shoots some video and try that in the PC. The other workaround is to keep the 1080 60p or 50p files and transcode these AVCHD movies to an edit-friendly format on Windows. Here we take Avid Media Composer as the example.
To make Panasonic GH3 AVCHD compatible with Avid Media Composer, you need to convert AVCHD .mts files to DNxHD codec without quality loss before transferring GH3 60p/50p AVCHD to Avid MC, since Avid cannot handle 1080 60p/50p AVCHD movies well.
Here you can get this top GH3 AVCHD Converter to transocde your MTS clips to Avid Media Composer favorable video format DNxHD .mov. The following guide lets you know the correct steps to convert Panasonic GH3 AVCHD MTS files to Avid Media Composer.
